Our History

1980

Introduced our benchmark product, RubberGard™ EPDM, launching us into the commercial roofing industry. Our first RubberGard EPDM roof was installed and warranted.

1983

Opened our first RubberGard EPDM manufacturing plant in Arkansas.

1986

Launched and installed UltraPly™ membranes and entered the thermoplastic roofing market.

1988

Broadened our product offerings with the acquisition of Teltex/ICM. Began manufacturing ISO 95+TM Polyiso insulation with six T.S. Industries plants incorporated into our portfolio.

Added 45-mil, polyester-reinforced RubberGard roof membrane to meet worldwide market demand for EPDM.

1993

Introduced QuicksSeam™ Tape System, revolutionizing Firestone’s accessory product line.

1996

Expanded our product line to include self-adhered base systems.

1999

Introduced UltraPly TPO and opened its first TPO manufacturing plant in South Carolina.

Introduced a 30-year warranty with the introduction of the RubberGard EPDM Platinum™ Membrane.

2005

Acquired Copper Sales, Inc. and began offering metal roofing products under the name UNA-CLAD.™

Built Global Technical Center in Indiana, representing a major investment in innovation and featuring capabilities for compounding and prototyping innovative new roofing products.

2015

Developed SecureBond Technology that adheres across the entire roofing membrane, establishing the most powerful bond possible and saving installation time.

2022

Firestone roofing systems officially became Elevate, the premier commercial brand of the Holcim Building Envelope division portfolio. With this exciting transition, we continue our commitment to building a safe, innovative and sustainable future by investing heavily in R&D to help solve the challenges of tomorrow.

2024

The launch of MAX PVC and MAX PVC XR expanded Elevate's PVC roofing systems portfolio with high-performance membranes engineered with a superior weathering package and an exceptionally strong knitted scrim, providing industry-leading durability and resistance to punctures, breaking, and tearing.

2025

Elevate Commercial Roofing Systems became part of Amrize following Holcim's spin-off of its North American business, establishing Elevate as the flagship commercial roofing brand within Amrize's Building Envelope portfolio.
